Aeromexico

Great news from our inbox today...AeroMexico announces flights to Huatulco!

AeroMexico is a Mexican-owned airline servicing almost 40 destinations within Mexico and other North American destinations, including Montreal, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Denver, Houston, Chicago, Miami, New York, and more.

The new flight from Mexico City to Huatulco will, no doubt, mean a much-welcomed increase in tourism from within Mexico, Canada, and the U.S....making it easier for passengers to connect with their luggage and tickets, all the way through to our beautiful coastline.

Here’s a little history about AeroMexico:

Antonio Diaz Lombardo started a company called Aeronaves de Mexico with the inaugural flight from Mexico City to Acapulco on September 14, 1934.  As a result of World War II, and a scarcity of planes, parts and motors, the company was forced to sell a 25% share to Pan American in 1941.

By 1955, the company had offices in 21 Mexican cities and two in the US.  Only 9 years later, Aeronaves de Mexico employed 2,980 people and offered domestic flights to 32 cities and international flights to cities in the US, Europe, Canada and South America.

On October 1, 1988 Aeromexico was born with the emblem of the Eagle Warrior. The airline began operations with 25 planes and a workforce of 3,500 personnel.  After celebrating 10 years as Aeromexico, the company redefined its business strategy by listening to their customers needs and responding accordingly.  Following, Aeromexico targeted three market segments—businesses, beaches and borders— offering more competitive products.

In 2005, Aeromexico became the first airline to offer a new service, allowing customers to use e-tickets and web check-in for their flights.

Aeromexico became the first Mexican airline to establish regular flights between Mexico and Japan. And, in 2007, flights to Latin America were added. China became the latest Asian destination in 2008 and Aeromexico further expanded with the addition of more flights to Spain & Italy.

  1. This is wonderful news and sorely needed since Mexicana stopped flying. Now I can fly to LA without having to take my bags in Mexico City & recheck them into a different airline. I'm really looking forward to the additional tourism this will bring Huatulco. Thanks Huatulco Life for being the first to let me know!
