Huatulco Life was inspired by people with a passion for Huatulco and the Mexican lifestyle. It is a place to find out more information about the region and enjoy the beauty of the Oaxacan coastline through the photo gallery. From time to time, other interesting tidbits about Mexico make their way into the pages of this blog. Enjoy!

Can a Place Help You Live More Organically?

We're not really talking about eating free-range turkey legs or prairie wheat grass gathered by hand and put into a hemp basket.  What we are really talking about is that, is it possible for a place to change the way a person thinks, and help them to live their life more organically?

I say YES!

Here are 10 ways that Huatulco can help you live more organically.

1. The Sun
Vitamin D is mother nature's all natural substance, coming through in the healing properties of the sun's ultraviolet rays. When used intelligently, sunlight exposure provides most people with their entire vitamin D requirements. The skin alone, as the body's largest organ, is responsible for producing and providing our body with this important nutrient. All you need is 15 minutes!

2. The Ocean
The healing abilities of salt water are profound and well documented. Salt water is an astringent and speeds wound healing.  Sure, you could fill up a glass with salt water and apply your own, but isn't a little more fun being in the ocean?   Floating in sea water can be a great release of tension and stress of the day. Floating weightlessly in the ocean is one of the most relaxing things I know.

3. The Sand
Sand is a natural exfoliator. These finely ground seashells become an amazing tool for cleansing your skin.  And, you will get this naturally just by wading into the ocean from all the sand floating in the water.  Ever notice how shiny your jewelery is after a day at the beach?

4. The Warm Winds
Have you ever just sat back in a lounge chair and looked out into the ocean while the tropical breezes blew through your hair?  Talk about relaxing.

5. The Sea Air
Deep breathing of ocean air helps us to relax and let go. The faint smell of salt in the air can take us to a place of pure joy. Sea air has a certain aliveness found no where else. This deep breathing can help release tension and the problems associated with it.

5. The Beautiful Scenery
It has been proven that your surroundings have a profound impact on your overall mood.  Filling your day with blank walls, harsh colors, and loud noises can turn you into an less than pleasant person.  Taking time to recharge and look at the amazing scenery of this coastline will not only release tension be recharge your mood.

6. The Slow Pace of Life
Slow down and smell the orchids!  The beautiful plant life of the area will have you slowing down and taking a deep breath.

7. The Fresh Food
I have never had fresher food anywhere else.  When it comes to seafood, fruit, vegetables or just about anything else for that matter, the people here believe that fresh is best.  We don't typically load up our shopping carts and throw things in the freezer for another day...we buy small, fresh, and often, and it tastes so much better.

8. The Wildlife
When there are parakeets flying around, you know you have arrived in the tropics.  Being surrounded by the tropical birds, reptiles, and mammals certainly helps you get back to nature.

9. The Climate
So much has been said about the great weather down here, and it's all true!  For those of us that live here, the only reason we bring out the long pants is because we run out of shorts to wear.  No sweaters or pants needed!  Any for those of you who have not been down here yet, feel secure in booking your winter vacations.  There is no need to plan it around the weather as it is reliably beautiful everyday.

...and finally, the #10 reason that Huatulco will change you forever...

10. The Mezcal
While there is still debate on whether Mezcal is good or not, I thought I would leave at least one point to debate on.

One of my favorite quotes of all time is by the legendary ski film director Warren Miller..."if you don't do it this year, you'll be one year older when you do."

The time is now!  Come on down, if you're not already here.
